PUSH IS...PUSH is engineered as an experience first, a conference second. Designed to have you discover and understand what the future holds for you and your organization, PUSH offers a variety of ways to engage and harness the fresh ideas that come from its stimulating content and environment. Best of all, PUSH concludes with a workshop that brings it all together for concrete, practical application. The enormous success of the PUSH Conference is due not only to the participation of its extraordinary speakers and artists, but also to its ability to attract a uniquely lively and intellectually adventurous audience. The ideas, conversations and community are all part of a wonderfully immersive experience that continues to deliver value long after the conference closes. ...A UNIQUE EVENT
Each PUSH Conference is carefully constructed as a focused “Zone of Discovery” — a theme, a group of people, a creative effort and content that will never come together in the same way again. This year’s The Fertile Delta is a singular experience that people from all over the country have already decided can't be missed. We hope you'll join them on June 15-17, 2008. ...A COMMUNITYPUSH attendees are passionate, visionary people committed to being a part of what comes next. Networking at PUSH isn’t about a five–minute exchange of business cards. It’s about meaningful time to share ideas and create new networks of opportunity. |

| WHAT SPARKED THE IDEA FOR THE PUSH CONFERENCE? | |
|
| We face the future with questions, not answers. In times of seismic change, the ability to ask the right questions becomes all the more important. The PUSH Conference was created in response to a need for businesses to ground strategy and leadership in a credible glimpse of the future, a sense of passion and possibility, and the ability to ask the right questions. The Push Institute and its conference are devoted to identifying issues of consequence, exploring them with some of the greatest minds we can find, and helping to shape the questions that matter most. No bullet points. No ’how-to’s. Just an elite level of conversation that you won't find anywhere else. |
| HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THIS YEAR'S SPEAKERS? | |
|
| I looked for people who were either analyzing how we’re changing, or whose products/services are mediating change in human behavior (consumer, social, intrapersonal, business). Because we face the future with questions, not answers, I wanted the speakers to be among those who are raising questions with the greatest insight, and therefore the greatest impact. Fortunately, the level of conversation that PUSH represents appeals to the people we’ve invited, and so we’re honored to present thought leaders and innovators who have a national and international profile for PUSH 2008. |
| WHY HOST THE CONFERENCE IN MINNEAPOLIS? | |
|
| “Cutting edge” doesn’t just belong to the Coasts! As one of the richest cities in creative capital in the nation, Minneapolis is not only a leader in the arts community, it is also home to some of the most forward–thinking, innovative companies anywhere. Consider Target, Best Buy, 3M, The Mayo Clinic, Medtronic as well as fact that Minneapolis has the most theater seats per capita outside NYC, the biggest Fringe Festival in the U.S. and much more. The PUSH Conference is both an expression and a celebration of the progressive culture that Minneapolis is known for and makes it a destination for the world–class thinking to which it is home. The PUSH Conference is held each year at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN. The Walker is recognized internationally as a singular model of a multidisciplinary arts organization and as a national leader for its innovative approaches to audience engagement. |
| PUSH is for those who want to help shape the future — philosophers, leaders, innovators and mavericks. It is ideal for the elite and influential group of strategists, policy makers, brand managers, product designers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, technologists, economists and creatives. The audience offers a community of peers and a network of opportunity. They are 350 leading strategists, innovators and futurists from business, academia and the arts. People who not only want to be a part of what comes next, but who will be the architects of the business, economic, political and artistic landscape 20 years from now and beyond. People such as high–ranking corporate strategy, public affairs, brand and R&D executives as well as venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, artists and other agents of change. |
| WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS AN ATTENDEE? | |
|
| Attendees describe PUSH as the most fun they’ve had since college in terms of encountering new ideas, artistic experiences, and lively, like–minded people. It is a deeply intellectually stimulating experience. Attendees will be stretched, challenged, dazzled and inspired by the creative potential the future holds. Additionally, the “PUSH process” and workshop give participants some of the tools they need to become their own “futurists”, radicalize thinking, while formulating Best Questions to pursue for themselves and their organizations. |
| The Push Institute is a non-profit organization committed to presenting an annual conference for those businesses and individuals who want to influence and participate in what comes next. Known for its bold look into the future, intellectual rigor and multidisciplinary focus, the PUSH Conference probes the juicy intersection among change, culture and business to explore what's pushing the future in new directions. Through presentations by leading thinkers and artists, PUSH inspires participants to arrive at “best questions” — the first step in driving innovation and strategy within their organizations. No bullet points, no how–tos, just an elite level of conversation you won’t get anywhere else. |
